Shannon Joly, CHRP

Shannon is the Director of Human Resources for School District 41 in Burnaby. Having worked in both the Post Secondary and Public Education sectors for several years, Shannon has earned a reputation for leadership, building relationships, creating innovative programs and fostering a positive labour relations environment. Shannon has also been a dedicated volunteer with HRMA since 1998 and has held leadership roles on regional Advisory Councils and volunteered for a variety of committee’s. Shannon represents HRMA on the Standards Advisory Committee for CCHRA. Having been a previous HRMA award recipient, Shannon is dedicated to giving back to a profession for which she is extremely passionate about.

Cameron MacKenzie, CHRP

Cameron is the Director, Professional Services, CGA-Canada. He brings 16 years of experience from the telecommunications industry and another 10 years from the Certified General Accountants Association. His experience includes executive and management education, professional development, labour relations, and accounting. Cameron has been recognized for improving member value and engagement by providing quality services important to members, providing strategic financial training to support business transformation and improve the labour negotiation process, and for leading a practice analysis which defines and defends certification requirements. He is a board member on the New York Institute of Technology Business Advisory Board and previously served on the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Accounting Advisory Committee. Cameron is a Certified General Accountant and earned his Teaching Certificate and Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia.

Susan Alley

Susan Alley, CHRP

Susan Alley is a senior executive with over thirty years’ experience in corporate and consulting human resources management in both unionized and non-unionized environments. She has significant experience providing strategic and practical solutions to both internal and external clients in a variety of industry sectors including financial services, hospitality, real estate, retail, health care, manufacturing, government, professional services and high tech. Susan had her own small business consulting practice for five years. She is currently the Vice President, Human Resources Services, at TPD. TPD offers HR solutions to organizations without in-house HR or who need additional support. Susan has been a faculty member at BCIT as well as the Human Resources Management Association. She currently sits on the Board of the Working Opportunity Fund as well as the Community Council of the West Vancouver SPCA.

Barb Bahry

Barb Bahry, CHRP

Barb is Vice President, Organizational Development at Odlum Brown Limited, a British Columbia based independent, full-service investment firm. In this role Barb is responsible for defining, aligning and executing the performance management, compensation and rewards, leadership development, and succession management strategies to align employees with the firm’s culture, vision and strategy. Her passion is in leadership, coaching and organizational effectiveness. Barb’s career mosaic comprises several different industries including both private and public companies in the technology, professional services, retail and management consulting sectors. Her volunteer history includes Ronald McDonald House, BC Heart & Stroke Foundation, United Way and Ovarian Cancer Canada.

Shaun is a Principal with Pinton Forrest & Madden Executive Search and has been involved with HRMA since 2007. He joined the Coastal Vancouver Advisory Council for the first time in September 2008. Shaun has worked in the executive search business for 12 years and is well respected in the industry for his aptitude in candidate development and client relations. His thorough, insightful approach gives clients confidence that their needs are being met in a professional, timely manner. Shaun also has past experience as Manager, Human Resources with a leading Canadian health insurance provider where he was responsible for recruitment, retention, coaching, performance management, and employee/labour relations. He received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary, which included studies abroad at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland.

Gregory Conner

Gregory Conner, CHRP

Greg Conner is the Vice President of Employee and Corporate Services for LEAGUE Financial Partners in Victoria. Greg has more than 20 years of human resources, employee recruitment, union relations and performance planning experience in both public and private sector organizations. With his expertise in employee relations, Greg has created and been recognized for many innovative employee engagement programmes and has made great progress in developing positive and progressive union relationships in a variety of environments. Greg is also a strong proponent of corporate social responsibility and serves a number of charities including United Way, where he is the Campaign Chair for the 2011 Greater Victoria Campaign. Greg has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Victoria.

Mike Desjardins

A graduate of UBC’s Sauder School of Business with a Bachelors of Commerce, Mike has spent the past 18 years transforming businesses. From entrepreneurial business to large public companies and public-sector organizations, Mike and the team at ViRTUS focus on driving a return on investment in every engagement they work on in the areas of strategy planning and implementation, leadership development, change management, and succession planning, through to the full spectrum of organizational development. Mike was invited to join the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) and was President of the Vancouver Chapter for 2007/8. In January 2006, Mike was the recipient of the BIV Top Forty Under 40 Award. In June 2010, Mike was the President of Purity Water Treatment Products, a company which manufactures and distributes water treatment products throughout North America with offices in Surrey, Oakville, and San Diego. Before Purity, Mike was the VP of Marketing and New Dealer Acquisitions for Beachcomber Hot Tubs Worldwide.

Lisa Fuller, CHRP

Lisa’s background includes working for large complex organizations within healthcare and gaming sectors in British Columbia providing strategic human resource management and project management on large organizational and change initiatives. She has 20 years progressive HR experience in all aspects of HR, within union and non-union environments. Lisa believes in fostering and building strong relationships with all stakeholders and partners she works with. She is committed to the growth of herself and her profession by being very involved with the Human Resource Management Association, volunteering in her community on multiple boards and committees, and traveling abroad to do philanthropic work. She enjoys all outdoor activities such as running, skiing, biking and hiking.

Len Posyniak, CHRP

Len Posyniak joined the Corix Group of Companies in 2013 and is the Executive Vice President, Human Resources He has over 25 years executive level experience in leading corporate HR strategy and service delivery in a wide variety of industries including insurance, consulting and business process outsourcing as well as agri-products and logistics. Len provides leadership to Corix in all areas of human resource management, compensation, organization design and development. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Saskatchewan and a Bachelor of Administration from the University of Regina, as well as a Certified Human Resources Professional designation and an Institute of Corporate Directors designation.

Susan Ryan, CHRP

Sue has worked for the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation as the Vice President & CFO for the past 10 years, since moving to BC from the Yukon in 2003. She previously held posts as Vice President & CFO of the Yukon Workers’ Compensation Board, and as Director, Finance, Systems, & Administration with the Government of Yukon, Department of Justice. She currently serves (since 2005) on the Board of Governors for Queen Margaret’s School on Vancouver Island as the Secretary, and as the Treasurer (since 2009) for Encore! Women’s Choir with whom she sings. Previous Board experience includes President, Certified Management Accountants Society of Yukon, Board Member, Certified Management Accountants Society of Canada, Board Member, Institute of Public Administration of Canada, Treasurer, Whitehorse Minor Hockey, Board Member, Kaushee’s Place Women’s Transition Home, Yukon.

Peter Saulnier

Peter Saulnier, CHRP

Peter is a Partner with Logan HR Management. He has consulted in human resources for over 15 years, with experience in career transition, compensation, and organization development. Most recently he was VP & General Manager for Toombs KWA. Previously he was Practice Leader for Watson Wyatt’s Human Capital Group in western Canada. Peter has been interviewed by and published in numerous periodicals, including the Globe & Mail, ROB Magazine, BC Business, BusinessInVancouver, and He has consulted in the US, Europe and Asia, and speaks regularly on a wide range of HR and business issues. Peter is a past Chair of the BC region of WorldatWork, the international association of compensation professionals, and he holds an MBA with a specialization in Human Resources & Organization Development from the University of British Columbia.

Caroline Schein

Caroline Schein, CHRP

Caroline is Vice President, People and Operations Development at Boston Pizza International (BPI). In this role Caroline is involved in strategy, development, implementation, and evaluation of core operational initiatives. Prior to BPI, she was with Best Buy Canada Inc. for 20 years in a number of roles and areas such as: operations, sales, marketing, advertising, training and human resources. She is a dedicated leader, who is adaptable in times of uncertainty, has the ability to remain focused on measurable deliverables leading to a legacy of successful high profile projects. Her passion for developing people and reputation for creating innovative HR and operational practices has been recognized within the teams and organizations she has been involved with. Caroline has an MBA specializing in leadership and a PhD in Human and Organization Systems.

Terrence Schmaltz, CHRP

TJ Schmaltz started his career as a labour and employment lawyer in Vancouver working with a variety of public and private sector clients before moving into the HR world. As an HR practitioner, TJ has worked in a variety of roles. These include working in maximum security jails with BC’s Adult Corrections Branch and as the Director of Labour Relations and Occupational Health and Safety at BC’s largest retailer. In 2009, he became the Executive Director of Human Resources and Payroll Services for the District of West Vancouver. He is also a regular speaker and a guest lecturer at Capilano University as well as a part-time instructor with BCIT’s Business School teaching a variety of business, law and HR courses. TJ also runs a management consulting firm that specializes in strategic human resource management practices. TJ is a proud and passionate HRMA member with a desire to help shape the future of the HR profession as an organization’s key strategic driver.

Anthony Ariganello

Anthony Ariganello

CEO, Ex-Officio For the past 11 years, Anthony has served as president and CEO of the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA-Canada), a self-regulating association of 75,000 students and accounting professionals. During this period, CGA-Canada achieved international recognition as a leading accounting designation. Previously, Anthony was president of Montreal-based Avon Canada, and also held senior-level financial positions including that of controller at Nortel Networks.
