Coastal Vancouver

The Coastal Vancouver Advisory Council handles the planning and implementation of local HRMA activities and is made up of members representing a broad range of HR experience levels and areas of practice.

HRMA members are encouraged to participate on the Advisory Council and/or provide suggestions and ideas of local interest. The Coastal Vancouver Advisory Council welcomes input from all HRMA members who would like to be involved with the growth of HR practice in the region. A call for volunteers on the Council is made in the spring each year.

Your Coastal Vancouver Advisory Council:

Tyler Cheyne

Chair + CHRP & Professional Development – Tyler Cheyne, CHRP

Tyler is a Senior Human Resources Advisor at Omicron Canada Inc. He has volunteered with both the Greater and Coastal Vancouver regions in a variety of roles for five years. As a past Rising Star Award recipient, he was an Advisor on the HMRA Conference Planning Committee. He is a graduate of the UBC Sauder School of Business with a specialization in Human Resources.

Meg Burrows

Outgoing Chair – Meg Burrows, CHRP

Meg’s experience includes human resources consulting, talent acquisition and business process design. Meg has been an advisory council member for the past five years leading various portfolios including membership, awards and networking in both Coastal Vancouver and Vancouver Island regions.

Kendra Lim

Awards – Kendra Feenstra, CHRP

Kendra is a Human Resources Generalist for DMCL Chartered Accountants & Business Advisors. She is a graduate of Capilano University with a BBA and an Advanced Diploma in Human Resources. In 2012, Kendra became involved with HRMA as a volunteer on the membership committee. This is her first year serving on the advisory council.

CHRP & Professional Development – Fiona Ho

Fiona is an HR Generalist at Fortinet Technologies. She is a graduate of Sauder School of Business at UBC and previously served as the post secondary student representative while there. She is also the Co-Chair of the New Professionals Roundtable.

Richard Grimes

Communications – Richard Grimes, CHRP

Richard is the job resource consultant at Right Management. His areas of expertise focus on career transition services and research. This is Richard’s second year on the advisory council.

Jessica Lau

Communications – Jessica Lau

Jessica earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree and Human Resources Advanced Diploma from Capilano University (CapU) in 2012, graduating with distinction and as the valedictorian. She was the HRMA Student Representative in her final year as well as President of the CapU HRMA and Vice-President of Capilano Undergraduate Business Enterprise of Students from 2008 to 2011. This is her first year on the advisory council.

Darelle Odo

Membership – Darelle Odo, CHRP

Darelle currently works as a Staffing Manager for Robert Half’s Office Team division doing temporary administration staffing. She has experience in marketing and has just completed her CHRP. She holds a BCom from the University of Victoria. Originally, Darelle joined HRMA in the Victoria region. Darelle is currently in her first year on the advisory council.

Mentoring – Joselyn Navaro, CHRP

Joselyn has been working in HR for over 12 years, currently as a Senior HR Advisor at ICBC and previously at TELUS for six years. She has wide range of experience in HR including recruitment, advising, and team leadership within a unionized environment. Joselyn has been an active volunteer having served on a number of committees, including awards, membership, and most recently as Co-Chair of the New Professionals Roundtable. This is her first year as part of the advisory council.

Pauline Chan

Mentoring – Pauline Chan, CHRP

Pauline is currently working as an HR Coordinator. She completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from SFU. Her areas of interests include recruitment, onboarding and training, benefits, health and wellness, process mapping and leadership development. This is her first year on the advisory council.


Networking & Events – Courtney McKissock, CHRP

Courtney is currently a HR Coordinator at Omicron Canada Inc. She is a graduate of University of Western Ontario where she completed her Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies with a specialization in Human Resources. Courtney has just completed her CHRP and she started volunteering at events with HRMA last year. This is her first year on the advisory council.

Julie Pecarski

Networking & Events- Julie Pecarski

Julie is currently the Human Resources Generalist at BC Corp of Commissionaires Enterprises and is responsible for providing HR support and services to the company’s head office in Downtown Vancouver. Julie has been a volunteer with the member events and networking committee since 2012.

Maling Sun

Post Secondary Liaison – Maling Sun, CHRP

Maling is a Human Resources Advisor with ICBC and previously worked at Starbucks Coffee Canada and eBay Inc. in a generalist capacity. This is her third year serving on the advisory council. She graduated from UBC with a degree in psychology and has worked in human resources since graduating from BCIT with a diploma of technology in HR management.

Laura Liden

Post Secondary Liaison – Laura Liden

Laura completed her Bachelor of Arts in psychology at UBC and is now completing her human resources studies at BCIT. This is her third year on the Coastal Vancouver Advisory Council and she is moving into the Post Secondary portfolio.

Volunteering – May Foggo, CHRP

May is the Director of Community Service and Human Resources at St. John Ambulance, a not-for-profit organization. Her HR and volunteer management experience includes recruitment and selection, policies and procedures, administration, employee/volunteer relations and risk management.

Volunteering – Mari Kim

Mari has recently obtained an MBA from UBC with a specialization in Human Resources. She has worked at various international non-profit organizations and has expertise in leadership development, volunteer engagement and retention, and conflict management. Mari is excited to join the Coastal Vancouver Advisory Council this year.
